Range Chickens & Eggs

Over the last few years, our methods of raising our Cornish-cross range chickens has evolved as we strive to keep our birds happy and healthy. Initially, we used a mobile "chicken tractor" that gave the birds a fresh patch of ground every day to graze on. However, as our production increased, these tractors became a little less feasible, since they only hold about 35 chickens to an 8x10 tractor.

So we invested in some electrified netting and created large pens that hold the entire flock. The chickens seem to really appreciate this new setup as the free-choice water and feed, along with lots of wonderful sunshine, make their feathers glossy and give them a healthy, plump conformation.

The result is chickens that not only have an enjoyable life but have excellent flavor. Our chickens feature double breast meat and a flavor that your grandmother would appreciate. We sell the whole, vacuum-sealed bird that is the perfect white meat for all occasions and seasons.

Just as our meat chickens get the benefit of the great outdoors, so our egg layers are always roaming about, looking for choice grass and tasty bug morsels. Our ladies have a very steady schedule, laying their eggs in the late afternoon and resting on an indoor perch at night.

The outcome of our happy hens are tan, speckled, green, beige, and off-white eggs with deep orange yolks. Our layers are on an all-natural local feed and are not given medication or antibiotics.
