Pastured Pigs
We like to consider our farm "the home of the happy pig" because we are proud to raise pigs in a way that respects their inherent intelligence and playful attitudes (along with discerning palates!). Our pigs are raised in an outdoor, pastured environment where they have the freedom to root around, take mud baths, and dine on some of their favorite edibles--like the roots of volunteer sapling trees and leftover potatoes still buried in the garden. We have also discovered that a pig will hardly ever turn down zucchini from our abundant home garden (veggies raised without chemicals, of course).
We enjoy our pigs so much and value the work they do in our gardens and pastures of turning over the soil and leaving valuable manure. In the spring a small passel of piglets can be a very effective "pig-erator" in the garden, giving the rototiller a season in the shed while the pigs happily work for their food.
