Pastured Pig Prices

We are selling custom wholes and halves of our pastured pigs for $2.10 a pound hanging weight. The hanging weight of the animal is the weight of the carcass after the animal has been butchered, but before it has been cut and wrapped. (In 2007, our pigs averaged a hanging weight of 130 to 165 pounds.)

When making a custom order for a whole or a half, you pay $2.10 per pound hanging weight to us as the farmer, and then a separate amount to the butcher shop for cutting and wrapping your meat. Cut and wrap costs vary, depending on if you have items like hams and bacons cured.

The best part of this arrangement is that you have control over how your pig is packaged for future use. You can decide how many pork chops should be in a package, how big you want your hams to be, if you want sausage made from some of the ground pork, etc. It's almost like having a charcuterie in your freezer! You can also enjoy your pork with the security of knowing it is safe and was humanely raised without worrying about meat recalls, or an "off" taste in your meat due to the kind of life it had. (I personally believe happy pigs taste much better!)
